City of Huntington Groundbreaking Ceremony

July 26, 2011
On Tuesday, July 26th, the City of Huntington held a groundbreaking ceremony for their Waterworks Improvements Project at the site of the new North Water Treatment Plant.  The project, which consists of a 2.7 MGD water filtration plant, a 1 MG elevated water storage tank, and water transmission mains, was designed by Wessler Engineering.  We will also provide construction administration and inspection services in conjunction with the project.

The $10 million project will help supplement the City’s existing water supply, especially on the north side of town.  The City worked with Wessler Engineering to implement several “green” components into the project such as a backwash water recycling system and solar powered lights in the parking areas.

The treatment plant is being constructed by L.D. Docsa Associates of Kalamazoo, Michigan.  The tank is being constructed by Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors of Sebree, Kentucky.  The water transmission mains are being installed by Ironclad Excavating of Roanoke, Indiana.

Construction for the project is expected to be complete in February 2013.
