Peru Water Treatment Plants Rehabilitation

Peru Utilities owns and operates water, wastewater, and electric utilities in Peru, IN and a water utility which serves the nearby Grissom Air Force Base. In 2016, Wessler helped design improvements for the Peru water treatment plant and in 2019 helped Peru Utilities again, this time with their Grissom water treatment plant. The Peru WTP needed rehabilitation to improve function of the filters and new chemical feed systems. Part of this project also included structural improvements to concrete tanks and the masonry building. The WTP had a historic sign over its door that Peru Utilities was sensitive not to damage during the work. Wessler worked closely with Peru Utilites to make sure the WTP maintained its original character and successfully kept the sign.

Later at the Grissom WTP, Wessler again worked closely with Peru Utilities to maintain the original gravity filters, but also to remove an outdated spiral staircase which created unsafe access points for operators. In this way, Wessler and Peru Utilities were able to maintain the character and history of their facilities while also bringing the plant up to modern standards.
