Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer
About the Role
Wessler Engineering is currently seeking to fill the role of an Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer at our Carmel or Indianapolis, IN office. This is a full-time position that will work as part of the project team to provide the expertise and design elements for the Instrumentation and Controls portions of our projects. This position specifically focuses on the Instrumentation hardware and configuration, as well as the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) components of construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Performs Engineering Analysis’ and Preliminary Engineering Reports related to instrumentation and control equipment for existing systems.
- Develops I&C and SCADA Asset Management Plans
- Assists in the development of SCADA Master Plans
- Assists in the design and implementation of I&C systems for industrial water systems including the use of sensors, transmitters, actuators, PLCs and SCADA systems.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate I&C systems with new and existing infrastructure and equipment.
- Develops project related design elements, including:
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
- Control Single Line Diagrams
- Instrumentation Detail Sheets
- Project Manual Specifications
- Communicates and coordinates project deliverables with other disciplines working on the project
- Plans, organizes and supervises assigned work on the project including the following:
- Establishes in consultation with the Project Manager a schedule of work consistent with overall client requirements on the project.
- Expedites work to ensure the completion dates, including intermediate dates, are met.
- Establishes manpower requirements and requests personnel from Project Manager to meet these requirements.
- Coordinates supporting services (typing, Specification reproduction) with the Administrative Group and coordinates vendor information.
- Monitors progress of the work with respect to schedules and budgets.
- Assists in reviewing all work done on the project for technical adequacy and to assure that it has received the proper checking and approvals as established by Company policy and procedure.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred candidate has taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Experience with:
- Industrial Instrumentation, Equipment, and the application of such devices
- Autodesk AutoCAD suite and basic functions
- Acceptable business communication styles demonstrating clarity, readability and correctness.
- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a professional services office.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
