Jeanette Cass Addition Stormwater Improvements
Evansville, Indiana
Seeking a solution to alleviate residential flooding in their Jeanette Cass addition, Evansville officials reached out to the Wessler team to assist with the affected area located in the lowest part of the city and behind the Ohio River levee, requiring coordination with the Evansville-Vanderburgh Levee Authority. Wessler staff had to be certain additional stormwater could be stored in the Levee Authority’s K2 ponding basin and the system would not surcharge prior to the levee’s pump system being activated during a large storm event.
The Wessler team prepared a preliminary engineering report (PER) with recommended improvements including abandoning and replacing inadequate storm sewers and installing a new storm sewer system and outfall. As part of the installation, additional services included design, easement, right-of-way acquisition, bidding, construction administration, and observation.
